The annual charity match took place on Thursday 14 May 2026 at Southend United’s Roots Hall Stadium, with Rickard Luckin represented by Ali Hussain and Reece Dabbs.

Both teams showed outstanding determination and spirit, with goals coming thick and fast throughout the game. A total of nine goals were scored, resulting in a thrilling 5-3 victory for Barclays at the final whistle.

While the Southend business professionals team narrowly missed out on the win, the result was secondary to what the event is all about. The atmosphere, energy and effort on display reflected the strength and unity of the local business community.

The event as always proved to be a huge success, offering great networking opportunities before kick-off, a half-time performance from a local dance school, and a well-supported charity auction and raffle after the match. Together, these efforts helped raise vital funds for Havens Hospices.

The total amount raised is expected to reach close to £50,000, with final figures to be confirmed soon.
