Now in its ninth year, the annual charity football game took place on Thursday 11 May 2023 at Southend United’s Roots Hall Stadium. Rickard Luckin players took up positions on both sides, meaning our team members in the stands were able to cheer at every goal.

Both teams brought their A-game, displaying exceptional skills and determination and the scoreboard kept ticking as the goals flowed in rapid succession. Twelve goals were scored in total and with the final whistle, the score stood at a thrilling 6-6, resulting in a nail-biting penalty shootout.

In the end, Southend Business Professionals emerged as the victors and the crowd celebrated as they secured their hard-fought win.

Jamie Nice, Tax Director at Rickard Luckin, said: "I’ve been involved in Play on the Pitch since it started, both as a player and as a co-organiser, and have watched it become a regular item in the Southend business community calendar. We loved seeing our friends, colleagues, clients and members of the wider community come along and show their support, raising much-needed funds for Havens. It was a fantastic evening and everyone had an opportunity to take part in activities including a kids/adults penalty shootout, charity auction and charity raffle. Ex-Blues players also provided their support on the night."

Play on The Pitch 2023 raised a total of £23,364.88. What an incredible achievement!
